Kill Yr Idols present Slow It Down DJs, Sat 17 Nov, The Berkeley Suite

The bastard love-child of underground events promoters Gerry Blythe and Gordon Mackinnon (aka GK Machine), brand new monthly night, Kill Yr Idols launches this month at Glasgow's intimate Berkeley Suite (home to regular nights from Andrew Weatherall, Optimo and Timothy J. Fairplay).

Avoiding the clichéd, expensive guest DJ approach the pair will instead tap into the innumerable artists, acts and DJs in Glasgow’s underground music scene that often go unnoticed; those with their own record labels or studios, releases on international labels or who frequently play live shows abroad but rarely perform in their own back yard.

With no set rules or musical policy, the Kill Yr Idols parties aim to be as DIY as possible, with a commitment to playing the rawest, cutting-edge, dirty, genre-bending party music this side of hell. A place where you're as likely to hear Danielle Dax sidle up to Rebolledo, or The Residents rub shoulders with Sexual Harrassment, to create a night-time soundtrack best described as psychedelic voodoo grooves meets souped-up, fuel-injected turbo-tech.

November's debut sees an invite extended to special guests, local production duo Slow It Down (Slow It Down Music, Midnight Riot) who have been kicking up a storm in and around Glasgow and across the UK festival circuit since 2010 with their own brand of 80s-inspired electro-pop, tech-funk and rare disco re-edits.
